The Widget

The widget is the part of AskVio your visitors see: a search box that expands into a conversation.

What visitors see

  • Suggestion pills: prompts to start with, written by you or generated from your content (generated suggestions need Pro).
  • Answers in the visitor's language, based only on your content, with source links.
  • Product cards with name, image and price, taken from your catalog (see Give Data).
  • Honest answers when something isn't covered: "we don't carry that" for products, "I don't have information about that" for other questions. These questions are recorded as gaps for you.
  • "Notify me": when a visitor asks for a product you don't carry, the widget can offer to email them if you add it (see Notify me).
  • Action buttons defined with Functions, for example "Contact support".
  • Controls to collapse the widget and clear the conversation.

When the widget is hidden

If your site has reached its monthly question limit, the widget isn't shown at all, instead of showing an error. A message in the browser console explains why. See Plan limits and quotas.

Widget Preview panel

The preview panel in the dashboard always loads your Test environment. Enter a page URL to see the widget on your own site; if the site can't be framed, AskVio shows a screenshot instead. Use the agent selector to switch agents, and drag the panel edge to check narrow layouts.
